Clinical Yoga

A clinical yoga workshop is a 90-minute session that combines clinically-based therapeutic coaching and Vinyasa-style yoga together in one experience.

According to science…

Movement helps integrate learning.

All it takes is a little practice

One of the processes we guide humans through here at the clinic is helping them be more curious, opening up more awareness, and practicing that awareness in their relationships.

Think of clinical yoga as a way to facilitate that process.

It’s a practice that combines the body work of yoga with the mind work of therapy into one class. Yoga offers a unique somatic intervention to complement therapy because movement helps integrate learning. Research has shown that kinesthetic learning can significantly help with concentration, memory, and overall cognitive processing.

The format for the session will begin with a clinical introduction to the topic, followed by an opening meditation. The class will then participate in a series of journaling prompts and yoga sequences, ending with an integrated meditation. Participants are required to bring a yoga mat and a journal. A pillow or cushion is recommended, and a blanket is optional if desired.

We partner with the team at Deth Yoga to host clinical yoga sessions.

“I thought Stacy did a great job facilitating, you may have gathered that I have participated in my fair share of talk therapy and I liked how she let dialogue flow organically, but also prompted reflection when needed/appropriate. I think the transitions back and forth between yoga, reflection/journaling and dialogue were perfection.”

“Loved it, obvi!

It was just what I needed. I loved the mix of journaling and movement plus the added meaning and prompts. So good. I’m a huge journal-er so it was right down my alley.”

“Stacy and Aaron make a great team. The yoga movements integrated with the therapeutic prompts flowed ideally to promote the necessary processing that we need to heal. I didn't expect to share during the session, but the intimacy of the setting and safety in the group made it natural to do so. I will definitely be recommending my clients to attend these sessions!”
